After a disappointing running experience at the 2014 Umstead 100 in Raleigh, North Carolina I resolved to start a daily running streak to acquire consistent momentum in my running life. The first day of the streak was put in the log on April 10th, 2014. I recently made a decision that it was time to let this current streak go. The last day of the streak was put in the log on December 22nd, 2015.

Total Days: 622
Total Miles: 4,990
DailyAverage: 8 miles
Shortest Run: 2 miles
Longest Run: 31 miles
Hottest Weather: 90 D F
Coldest Weather: -4 D F

Other highlights: every run was a get outside run outing. My best streak within the streak was a 38 day double digit streak wherein I logged at least a 10 mile run every day for 38 days straight. My previous longest running streak was 102 days.

Thoughts: The streak was a success with regards to me getting back momentum in my running life. I am very pleased with my current momentum and I am hungry to keep it rolling. Coming into 2016 I am mindful of how many miles I have logged for 2015 [currently at 3,221 miles]. My hope for 2016 is that even with an occasional break I will log a similar or greater number of miles.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13017840554533842765noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161241086371257448.post-32144677303037181392015-12-22T19:45:00.001-08:002015-12-22T19:45:47.548-08:00Day 622Logged Running Streak Day 622 via a 6 mile run in Republic, MO. I actually slept in this morning in a good way. I was schocked to discover how warm it was today - already 56 at 9 AM - late in December in the Ozarks. I was distracted by laundry and other things that needed to be done today and therefore I kept it short. I am starting to feel better. Perhaps tomorrow will be a ten or twelve mile outing.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13017840554533842765noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161241086371257448.post-91091660764721728612015-12-20T20:08:00.002-08:002015-12-20T20:08:59.911-08:00Day 620

One of my best race performances in the last 4 years. The last couple years I have been employing planned walk segments during training and events. I decided this week that I would attempt to run today's 50K without employing any walk segments or even pauses at the aid stations. Given that my longest run without walk segments this year was 10 miles, I was really taking on a big challenge. The course was an out-and-back 50k with 16 miles on very loose rock. At the turn around I was in 8th place overall and got a solid energy boost via passing all but 2 of the runners ahead of me. I did get "chicked" therefore I was number 2 male and scored a solid award. I did accomplish my goal of keeping it rolling the entire distance without throwing in the walks or pauses. It was great to take another run trip with Scott who was the solo marathoner today - number 51 for him!!! We also enjoyed visiting after the event with our great friends Jim and Judy who I had not seen in YEARS! Thankful that one of my dogs woke me up this morning to get in a morning outing before departing for work early with the wife again today. It was a refreshing crisp environment outside the door this morning. Two days before the You Don't Know Jack 50K. Still envisioning going 31.05 miles without employing the rejuvinating walk segments. Just want to get on a 8:50 to 8:55 pace and stay under 9 for the entire journey. I have tomorrow to get my clothes and gear organized.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13017840554533842765noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161241086371257448.post-60189998558824485432015-12-02T06:44:00.002-08:002015-12-02T06:44:24.403-08:00Day 602Running Streak Day 602: 2 mile run in Republic, MO.
